Coronation Street tops the midweek soap ratings

Coronation Street topped Wednesday evening's soap ratings (July 31) with yet more scheming from David Platt, overnight figures show.

The midweek visit to Weatherfield brought in 7.34m (36.5%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 415k (1.9%) on +1 as David decided to send Leanne a poison pen letter hinting at Nick's secret.

Emmerdale attracted 6.47m (34.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 295k (1.4%) on +1 as a grief-stricken Nikhil continued refusing to look after baby Molly.

Hollyoaks claimed 850k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Sinead's troubles continued, while E4's first look had 622k (3.3%) at 7pm and 103k (0.5%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 618k (8.2%) at 1.45pm and 949k (7.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 269k (3.5%) at 1.15pm, 627k (3.9%) at 6pm and 437k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.25m (16.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
