Emmerdale's 7pm screening had its rating dented by ITV's technical problems on Tuesday evening (June 4), overnight figures show.
With ITV down in a number of regions, Emmerdale logged an audience of just 5.05m (28.5%) at 7pm as an hour-long episode saw Rhona struggle with her painkiller addiction while on holiday. 257k (1.3%) watched an hour later on +1.
Another chance to see Emmerdale at 10.35pm was taken up by 658k (5.9%).
Despite ITV's problems, EastEnders still dipped due to its 30-minute clash with Emmerdale, pulling in 4.89m (26.2%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Dot's interview with the vicar descended into farce. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 651k (4.5%) at 10.30pm.
Holby City entertained 4.18m (21.5%) at 8pm on BBC One with another difficult day for Malick.
Hollyoaks brought 810k (5.4%) to Channel 4 at 6.30pm as Nancy and Darren hit the rocks thanks to Sienna, while E4's first look had 497k (3.0%) at 7pm and 125k (0.7%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 497k (9.6%) at 1.45pm and 812k (7.1%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 214k (3.9%) at 1.15pm, 578k (4.3%) at 6pm and 440k (2.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.02m (19.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
