'Coronation Street' easily wins Thursday soap ratings battle

Coronation Street was easily the highest-rated soap of the evening on Thursday, overnight data reveals.

An average of 8.55 million viewers (36.1%) tuned in to see Tina banning Gary and Izzy from seeing their baby at 9pm, while a further 450,000 (2.3%) watched on +1.

Emmerdale grabbed 6.40m (35.8%) at 7pm (172k/0.8% on +1), as Adam schemed against Cain.

EastEnders suffered a dip due to going up against Britain's Got Talent, interesting 5.24m (24.0%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Lauren cracked and punched Lucy. An added 802k (5.1%) watched the repeat on BBC Three at 10pm.

Hollyoaks attracted 859k (5.0%) to Channel 4, where Theresa pointed a gun at Dodger. E4's first look was seen by 613k (3.3%) at 7pm (172k/0.8%).

Earlier, Home and Away's afternoon slot at 1.15pm on Channel 5 grabbed 231k (3.0%), followed by Neighbours with 739k (10.0%) at 1.45pm.

Neighbours's evening broadcast at 5.30pm was seen by 898k (6.5%), while Home and Away attracted 681k (4.3%) at 6pm. 5*'s first-look episode brought in 442k (2.6%) at 6.30pm.

On BBC One, Doctors entertained 1.26m (17.0%) at 1.45pm.
