Coronation Street tops Monday evening's soap ratings

Coronation Street topped Monday evening's (May 20) soap ratings as Gary and Tina's secret began to spread, overnight figures show.

8.23m (39.2%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 185k (0.8%) on +1 as Ryan learned of Gary's pass at Tina, while 8.17m (34.5%) returned at 8.30pm and 249k (1.1%) on +1 as Katy was next to find out.

EastEnders appealed to 6.98m (31.0%) at 8pm on BBC One as Phil found Sharon unconscious, while BBC Three's repeat screening secured 403k (2.7%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale pulled in 6.93m (35.8%) at 7pm on ITV as Rhona hit a new low, adding 255k (1.1%) on +1.

Hollyoaks interested 870k (4.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the Price Slice robbery storyline, while E4's first look had 477k (2.5%) at 7pm and 132k (0.6%) on +1.

On Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 667k (10.3%) at 1.45pm and 860k (6.1%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away had 261k (3.8%) at 1.15pm, 635k (3.8%) at 6pm and 485k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.25m (19.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
