Emmerdale was Friday evening's most-watched soap

Emmerdale topped Friday evening's soap ratings (March 22) with the latest developments in the Jai and Charity storyline, overnight figures show.

6.81m (30.7%) saw Jai consider confessing his secret to Charity at 7pm on ITV, adding 189k (0.8%) on +1.

EastEnders, which aired against the San Marino vs. England game on ITV, managed 6.5m (26.4%) at 8pm on BBC One as Tanya wondered whether to tell Jack the truth about Sharon and Phil. BBC Three's repeat screening had 443k (2.7%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks pulled in 1.12m (5.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 127k (0.6%) on +1 with Brendan Brady's final episode, while E4's first look secured 675k (3.0%) at 7pm.

On Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 720k (8.2%) at 1.45pm and 982k (5.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 762k (3.9%) at 6pm and 479k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.86m (21.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
