Coronation Street and Hollyoaks both saw big audience boosts on Monday evening (January 21) as long-running stories came to a head, overnight figures show.
Corrie pulled in a huge 10.09m (39.3%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 118k (0.4%) on +1 as a vengeful Kirsty exposed Tyrone's affair at their wedding. 10.34m (37.7%) tuned in at 8.30pm and 222k (0.8%) on +1 to see the consequences for a devastated Tyrone.
Hollyoaks rose to 1.35m (5.7%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as bullied teen Esther Bloom made a suicide attempt, before E4's first look screening piled on viewers with 1.11m (4.6%) at 7pm and 135k (0.5%) on +1 - the highest E4 figures since the climax to the Silas serial killer storyline in 2011.
EastEnders was level week-on-week as 8.77m (32.7%) watched Tanya's latest attempt to get rid of Kirsty at 8pm on BBC One. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 378k (2.3%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale, meanwhile, interested 7.75m (32.2%) at 7pm on ITV as Dom realised that Debbie had conned him.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 828k (8.0%) at 1.45pm and 1.07m (5.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 871k (3.9%) at 6pm and 504k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.99m (19.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
