More Hollyoaks fans tuned in to E4's first look last week than the normal 6.30pm episodes, a pattern that continued every day.

Bosses took the decision to move the teen soap's Channel 4 episodes to E4 for one week only due to the broadcaster taking the decision to extend its Paralympics coverage.

Friday's Hollyoaks pulled in 342k (2%) for E4's last 6.30pm instalment, then 7pm's usual first look managed a strong 568k (3.2%).

With the Paralympic Games closing last night, the Cheshire-based serial's scheduling will return to normal from tomorrow, with the show's 6.30pm episode broadcast on Channel 4.

Elsewhere on Friday, Emmerdale stood as ITV's only soap with an audience of 5.36m (29.7%) at 7pm, adding 116k (0.5%) on ITV1 +1. Coronation Street did not air in either its 7.30pm or 8.30pm slot due to an England World Cup football qualifier.

EastEnders was therefore left unchallenged for pole position, logging 6.03m (28%) for BBC One at 8pm as Shirley Carter left Albert Square. BBC Three's 10.30pm repeat later took 496k (3.1%).

Neighbours mustered 608k (9.8%) at 1.45pm and 821k (6.4%) at 5.30pm for its latest Channel 5 instalment, while fellow Aussie soap Home and Away climbed to 625k (4.2%) at 6pm before drawing 294k (1.8%) for 5*'s first look.

Meanwhile, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Third Party' - attracted 1.29m (20.2%).
