Sue Cleaver, Ryan Thomas, Brooke Vincent and Ben Price's charity programme concluded with just 1.53m (7.2%) in the 9pm hour, as well over 5m either switched off or changed channel after the serial's 8.30pm episode.

However, bouncing back from Thursday's dip, a Kirsty and Tyrone-themed double bill gave Corrie the edge over EastEnders in the soap ratings, pulling in 7.36m (36.9%) at 7.30pm (+1: 160k/0.7%), and 7m (32.1%) at 8.30pm (+1: 256k/1.2%).

EastEnders, meanwhile, took 6.86m (32.6%) as Phil bid an emotional goodbye to Ben. BBC Three's 10.30pm repeat added 569k (3.6%).

The EastEnders Omnibus appealed to a sizeable 465k (9.2%) between 11.45pm and 1.30am, the catchup service's highest audience in its new overnight slot.

Emmerdale logged 6.01m (31.6%) at 7pm (+1: 127k/0.6%) for the aftermath of Chas's marriage proposal to Dan, while Hollyoaks grabbed 810k (4.5%) at 6.30pm and 436k (2.6%) for E4's first look half-an-hour later.

Neighbours drew 506k (6.9%) at 1.45pm and 832k (6%) at 5.30pm for its latest instalment, while Doctors averaged 1.3m (17.9%) for an edition titled 'Blue Eyed Boy'.
