'Coronation Street' Rick plot delivers 7m on Friday

Coronation Street was the most-watched soap on Friday evening (June 1) as the Rick Neelan storyline intensified.

The ITV1 show pulled in 6.98m (36.8%) at 7.30pm and 128k (0.6%) on +1 as Tina discovered what Tommy was up to, while the couple's subsequent showdown with Rick was witnessed by 5.75m (25.5%) at 8.30pm and 352k (1.6%) on timeshift.

EastEnders, meanwhile, entertained 5.74m (25.9%) outside of its usual timeslot at 9pm as Michael refused to give Jean her money back. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 612k (3.2%) at 10pm, while the EastEnders Omnibus appealed to 457k (9.9%) on BBC One from midnight.

Emmerdale interested 5.46m (31.9%) at 7pm and 199k (1.0%) on +1 as Cain paid a visit to Zak, while Hollyoaks had 679k (4.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4, 404k (2.4%) for E4's first look at 7pm and 108k (0.5%) on E4+1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 554k (8.5%) at 1.45pm and 820k (6.3%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 719k (4.8%) at 6pm and 406k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Jerusalem' - was seen by 1.26m (19.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
