Soap ratings: 'EastEnders' Mitchell troubles seen by 8m

EastEnders was the most-watched soap on Tuesday evening (April 17) as Phil desperately tried to restore some normality in the Mitchell household.

EastEnders pulled in 7.96m (36.1%) at 7.30pm as Phil urged killer Ben to return to school. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 819k (4.4%) at 10pm.

Also on BBC One, Holby City entertained 5.09m (22.1%) at 8pm with Sahira's final episode.

Emmerdale, meanwhile, attracted 6.55m (32.2%) at 7pm as Ali was at the centre of a factory drama, adding 212k (0.9%) on +1.

Hollyoaks interested 943k (5.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the fire incident at the sixth form college, while E4's first look grabbed 513k (2.5%) at 7pm and 144k (0.6%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 837k (11.6%) at 1.45pm and 948k (6.3%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away had 743k (4.3%) at 6pm and 472k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Pass Notes' - was seen by 1.57m (21.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
