Ratings: 'Coronation Street' tops Monday with salon plot

Coronation Street was the most-watched soap on Monday evening (March 26) as the show's salon war storyline kicked off, overnight figures show.

Coronation Street pulled in 8.38m (39.4%) at 7.30pm and 103k (0.4%) on +1 as Audrey faced a backlash over her reunion with Lewis, while 8.8m (37.6%) watched at 8.30pm and 235k (1.0%) on timeshift as the businesswoman demanded her salon back from David.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 7.84m (34.0%) at 8pm as Ben and Phil's cover-up continued. BBC Three's repeat screening had 820k (4.3%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.55m (35.2%) at 7pm as Aaron declined to move away to France with Ed, while 108k (0.5%) saw the episode on +1.

Hollyoaks managed 1.08m (6.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Annalise tried to move on from Rob by pursuing Joel, while E4's first look appealed to 403k (2.2%) at 7pm and 133k (0.6%) on timeshift.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 575k (10.5%) at 1.45pm and 875k (7.1%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 705k (4.8%) at 6pm and 478k (2.8%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Let Me Shipwreck' - was seen by 1.29m (23.6%) at 1.45pm.
