Waterloo Road returned to screens with an audience close to the 5m mark on Wednesday evening (February 22), overnight figures show.
Waterloo Road pulled in 4.88m (21.8%) at 8pm as Sian covered for Michael on a difficult day for the school.
Emmerdale, meanwhile, topped the soap ratings as 7.53m (35.2%) tuned in to see Katie grow frustrated over newcomer Megan. A further 166k (0.8%) tuned in on ITV1+1.
Hollyoaks grabbed 1.03m (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 118k (0.6%) on +1 as Mercedes went AWOL with Kathleen-Angel, before E4's first look entertained 470k (2.2%) at 7pm.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours managed 733k (9.0%) at 1.45pm and 1.12m (6.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 922k (4.7%) at 6pm and 543k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'The Ones We Leave Behind' - was seen by 1.84m (22.8%) at 1.45pm.
