Peter Barlow's (Chris Gascoyne) struggle with sobriety intrigued 8.17m (36.3%) viewers last night, making Coronation Street Friday's most-watched soap.
The first episode in a double bill nabbed a further 123k (0.5%) on ITV1+1. The second, which saw Peter open up to Carla, took 7.92m (33.6%) at 8.30pm and an additional 183k (0.8%) on timeshift.
Earlier on ITV1, the arrests of Jai and Charity thrilled 7.53m (35.4%) Emmerdale fans. An extra 189k (0.8%) chose to catch up an hour later.
Lola's hospitalisation on EastEnders concerned 7.99m (34.3%) viewers, and a substantial 727k (3.4%) caught the BBC Three repeat. BBC One's daytime soap Doctors pulled in 1.67m (22%).
Hollyoaks attracted 980k (4.8%) to Channel 4 at 6.30pm, and 117k (0.5%) watched an hour later as plans to get rid of Warren took shape. E4's 7pm first look garnered 433k (2%).
Channel 5's afternoon showing of Neighbours tempted 696k (9.2%). At 5.30pm, its audience almost doubled to 1.24m (7.3%) as Michael was rushed to hospital. Home and Away aired straight after and held on to 804k (4.2%).
