As the mean-spirited character began to have second thoughts, ITV1 dominated the 7.30pm slot with 7.92m (36.8%). A further 128k (0.5%) caught up with the action on +1.
An hour later, Becky's realisation that she'd lost Steve for good interested 7.53m (31.9%), as well as a further 189k (0.8%) on timeshift.
Earlier on ITV1, 6.3m (32.1%) saw Rachel guess the truth about Marion and Laurel on Emmerdale, with another 124k (0.5%) watching an hour later.
On BBC One's EastEnders, Ben's showdown with Phil brought in 7.65m (32.8%) at 8pm, while 571k (2.8%) waited until BBC Three's 10pm repeat. Following the night's episode, the channel aired EastEnders: The New Moons, which retained 347k (2.4%).
BBC One daytime broadcast Doctors managed to score 1.62m (23.1%) with an episode titled 'Suffocating Love'.
Also showing during the afternoon, Channel 5's Neighbours took 693k (9.8%) as Chris faced a homophobic customer. The early evening repeat captured 1.08m (7.1%), and Home and Away followed with 892k (5.2%) when Brax confronted Tegan.
Channel 4's Hollyoaks nabbed 940k (4.9%) as Mitzeee was pushed too far. E4's First Look grabbed a further 316k (1.6%).
