'Coronation Street' nabs 7.3m for car crash aftermath

Coronation Street temporarily joined ITV1's Wednesday evening lineup with 7.3m, according to the latest audience data.

The soap averaged 7.32m (29.5%) for ITV1 from 9pm and 265k (1.3%) on +1, as Karl demanded answers from Frank as Stella was taken into surgery.

Emmerdale had 6.91m (33.9%) from 7pm on ITV1 and 155k (0.7%) on timeshift, as Aaron continued to self-harm in a bid to block out his emotional pain.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks appealed to 1m (5.2%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm and 140k (0.7%) on +1, before E4's first look at the next episode mustered 444k (2.2%) from 7pm and 109k (0.5%) an hour later. The new series of spinoff show Hollyoaks Later stayed popular with 576k (3.1%) on E4 from 10pm and 174k (1.9%) on timeshift.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.57m (22.7%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 656k (9.4%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 1.1m (7.6%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away had 816k (4.7%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, and 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 404k (2.1%) from 6.30pm.
