'Enders steals Monday ratings crown from Coronation Street

EastEnders stole the ratings crown from Coronation Street on Monday evening with another twist in the life of Ian Beale, according to overnight audience data.

EastEnders appealed to 8.32m (33.8%) on BBC One from 8pm, as Ian found Mandy Salter in a strip club. A further 633k (3%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

ITV1's Coronation Street averaged 7.86m (38.2%) from 7.30pm as Kylie locked Gail out of her own home after another row. Tensions reaching boiling point in the Platt household following David's return were seen by 8.12m (32%) from 8.30pm and 140k (0.6%) on timeshift.

On Emmerdale, 7.1m (32.5%) tuned in on ITV1 from 7pm and 115k (0.5%) on +1, as Declan revealed the truth to Jai after inviting him out clay pigeon shooting.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks managed 1.02m (5.1%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm and 143k (0.6%) on +1, before E4's first look at the next episode pulled in 393k (1.8%).

Doctors was not aired due to the bank holiday, but Neighbours entertained 546k (5.9%) on Channel 5 from 1.15pm, as well as 828k (4.8%) for the repeat at 5.30pm.
