'Emmerdale' double tops 6m as Aaron hears his fate

The Emmerdale double soared above 6 million viewers on Thursday evening as Aaron had his big day in court, according to overnight viewing data.

The rural soap grabbed 6.23m (35%) on ITV1 from 7pm and 107k (0.5%) on ITV1+1, as Aaron awaited the jury's verdict after the prosecution and defence summed up their cases. Aaron's big moment as he finally heard the jury's verdict was seen by 6.9m (33.1%) from 8pm and 216k (1%) on timeshift.

Coronation Street averaged 7.43m (32.5%) for ITV1 from 8.30pm, as Steve's barriers fell, allowing Tracy to get her man. An additional 532k (2.3%) watched the episode on ITV1+1.

EastEnders appealed to 7.01m (36.6%) on BBC One from 7.30pm, as Michael convinced Jack that he was innocent before vowing to get even with Eddie. A further 956k (5.1%) saw BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks had 930k (5.5%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm and 114k (0.6%) on +1. E4's first look at the next episode appealed to 369k (2.1%) from 7pm.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.43m (21.6%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 659k (9.8%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 1.05m (8.4%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away fetched 777k (5.2%) from 6pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode brought in 467k (2.8%) from 6.30pm.
