Fiz arrest helps 'Coronation Street' rule Monday night

The arrest of Fiz helped the Coronation Street double stay around 8 million viewers on Monday evening, according to overnight audience data.

ITV1's flagship soap averaged 7.95m (40.2%) from 7.30pm as the police arrived at the factory to arrest Fiz over Colin's death. Fiz's decision to plead not guilty to the murder was watched by 8.15m (36.3%) from 8.30pm and 100k (0.4%) on timeshift.

EastEnders appealed to 7.72m (36%) on BBC One from 8pm, as Michael vowed to get revenge after Ronnie rejected him. A further 826k (4.1%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

On Emmerdale, 6.34m (35.2%) tuned in on ITV1 from 7pm, as Leyla was plagued by worries over Alicia's possible move to Spain.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks managed 1.02m (6.1%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm and 147k (0.7%) on +1, before E4's first look at the next episode pulled in 335k (1.9%) and 115k (0.5%) on timeshift.

Earlier, Doctors returned to BBC One with 1.28m (21.2%) from 1.45pm, while Neighbours entertained 644k (10.6%) on Channel 5. The Aussie soap's repeat screening fetched 1.13m (9.2%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away took 830k (5.5%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode entertained 478k (2.9%) from 6.30pm.
