Coronation Street topped Wednesday's ratings (December 23) as the soaps continued to build towards their Christmas specials, overnight figures show.Corrie pulled in 6.21m (29.8%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 260k (1.3%) on +1 as David had a chance meeting with Callum's mum while doing his Christmas shopping.
Airing an extra midweek episode, EastEnders continued with 5.79m (27.3%) at 8pm on BBC One as Vincent's latest attempt to get revenge on Phil was thwarted. BBC Three's repeat added 480k (2.7%) at 10pm.
Emmerdale interested 5.45m (27.7%) at 7pm on ITV and 133k (0.6%) on +1 as Ross and Aaron's dodgy warehouse job went wrong.
Hollyoaks remained relatively steady with 815k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Cameron tried to kill Leela (+1: 68k / 0.3%), while E4's first look secured 554k (2.7%) at 7pm and 174k (0.8%) on +1 as an hour-long Christmas special saw a regular character killed off.
