Coronation Street stayed above the 8 million mark on Wednesday evening (January 21) despite its earlier timeslot, overnight figures show.
The Weatherfield soap was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 8.1m (39.3%) at 7pm on ITV and 416k (1.9%) on +1 as Tracy saved Carla's life following the mini-bus crash and Sinead lost feeling in her legs due to her own injuries.
Corrie's rating was its third-highest of the month after Monday's episodes both brought in 8.7m.
The episode was also dedicated to the soap's long-serving actress Anne Kirkbride, who passed away on Monday following a short illness.
Elsewhere, Hollyoaks attracted 838k (4.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Ste discovered that he is HIV positive. E4's first look held up well against the tough competition from Corrie, securing 751k (3.7%) at 7pm and 122k (0.6%) on +1.
Neighbours put in another strong performance at lunchtime as 757k (9.2%) saw Amber and Imogen's secrets revealed at 1.45pm on Channel 5, while 860k (5.4%) watched the 5.30pm repeat.
Home and Away interested 298k (3.7%) at 1.15pm and 567k (3.2%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 355k (1.8%) at 6.30pm.
Doctors continued with 1.68m (20.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
