Cotton family drama brings in 7.5m on Thursday's EastEnders

EastEnders put in another strong performance on Thursday evening (January 15) with more twists and turns for the Cottons, overnight figures show.

The Walford soap was the most-watched show of the day, attracting 7.53m (34.6%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Charlie told the Mitchells the truth about the car crash and Dot was revealed to still be helping Nick. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 267k (1.8%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 6.35m (30.5%) at 7pm on ITV as Zak realised that Belle was suffering from mental health problems, while 6.18m (27.8%) returned at 8pm and 130k (0.6%) on +1 as the Dingles discovered the full extent of the situation.

Hollyoaks interested 951k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Dirk paid a visit to Will in prison, while E4's first look followed with 836k (4.0%) at 7pm and 148k (0.7%) on +1.

Neighbours entertained 696k (8.9%) at 1.45pm and 774k (4.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Amber told Daniel that she wanted a break from their relationship.

Home and Away mustered 253k (3.2%) at 1.15pm and 533k (2.9%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 428k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors rose to 1.76m (22.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One - the daytime soap's highest rating since February 12 last year.
