'Emmerdale' ahead in Monday's soap ratings with 6.1m viewers

Emmerdale topped the soap ratings on Monday evening (December 8) as EastEnders dipped against the Royal Variety Performance, overnight figures show.

6.06m (29.1%) tuned in at 7pm on ITV and 111k (0.5%) on +1 as Belle's ongoing troubles continued.

Against ITV's Royal Variety airing, EastEnders managed 5.62m (23.0%) at 8pm on BBC One as Sonia and Martin decided to split up. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 426k (3.1%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks attracted 1.09m (5.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Ste saw his stepfather Terry with Amy and the kids, while E4's first look followed with 751k (3.6%) at 7pm and 116k (0.5%) on +1.

Home and Away interested 270k (4.0%) at 1.25pm and 644k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 443k (2.2%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.6m (24.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
