Coronation Street topped Monday's soap ratings (May 12) with another tough day for Peter Barlow, overnight figures show.

7.42m (37.1%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 149k (0.7%) on +1 as Rob came dangerously close to uncovering Peter's affair with Tina. 7.31m (33.4%) returned at 8.30pm and 147k (0.6%) on +1 as Peter hit the bottle yet again, leading to an emotional showdown with Carla.

EastEnders was close to Corrie in the ratings, bringing in 7.27m (35.2%) at 8pm on BBC One with the arrest of Jake Stone and the first appearance of Pauline McLynn as Yvonne Cotton. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 358k (2.5%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 5.99m (32.4%) at 7pm on ITV as Debbie pushed Pete away, adding 129k (0.6%) on +1.

Hollyoaks interested 1.06m (6.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 114k (0.6%) on +1 as George and Danny shared a surprise kiss, while E4's first look claimed 790k (4.3%) at 7pm and 151k (0.7%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Doug's diagnosis in Neighbours was shared with 676k (10.2%) at 1.45pm and 761k (5.8%) at 5.30pm.

Elsewhere, BBC One's Doctors was seen by 1.4m (21.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
