EastEnders tops Thursday's soap ratings with Poppy's exit

EastEnders was back ahead of Emmerdale on Thursday evening (January 30) but both soaps were below the 7 million mark, overnight figures show.

6.98m (32.2%) watched EastEnders at 7.30pm on BBC One as Poppy left Walford after her relationship with Fatboy broke down. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 415k (2.7%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 6.67m (32.7%) at 7pm on ITV as Pete's drug dealing sparked a big row among the Bartons, while 6.64m (30.5%) returned at 8pm and 116k (0.5%) on +1 to see the consequences for the family as the truth came out.

Hollyoaks brought in 1.13m (5.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the aftermath of Jim's death, while E4's first look stayed on top of the multichannel ratings with 819k (4.0%) at 7pm and 114k (0.5%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 641k (9.1%) at 1.45pm and 899k (5.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 196k (2.7%) at 1.15pm, 609k (3.4%) at 6pm and 466k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.66m (23.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
