Coronation Street remained on top in Friday evening's soap ratings (January 24) as Nick and Leanne reached the end of the road, overnight figures show.
8.29m (37.6%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 162k (0.7%) on +1 as Nick told Leanne that they should break up, while 7.51m (32.2%) returned at 8.30pm and 221k (0.9%) on +1 as the troubled couple split.
EastEnders attracted 6.98m (31.2%) at 8pm on BBC One as Shirley agreed to pay a visit to her father. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 328k (2.0%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale brought in 6.89m (33.0%) at 7pm on ITV and 170k (0.8%) on +1 as Dan was the victim of a shock attack.
Hollyoaks interested 870k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Maxine's lie to the police caused big trouble for Jason, while E4's first look had 691k (3.3%) at 7pm and 102k (0.5%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 696k (9.0%) at 1.45pm and 709k (4.3%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 258k (3.3%) at 1.15pm, 613k (3.3%) at 6pm and 428k (2.2%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.61m (20.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
