Coronation Street was well above the 8 million mark with its hour-long wedding special on Wednesday evening (December 4), overnight figures show.
The midweek visit to Weatherfield attracted 8.63m (39.1%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 234k (1.0%) on +1 as Peter gave into temptation with Tina after marrying Carla.
Emmerdale pulled in 6.78m (34.2%) at 7pm on ITV as Ross saved Gabby in a heroic moment, adding 128k (0.6%) on +1.
Hollyoaks appealed to 981k (5.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the latest developments in the Mercedes and Cindy story, while E4's first look had 576k (2.9%) at 7pm and 184k (0.8%) on +1.
On Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 596k (8.9%) at 1.45pm and 867k (5.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 232k (3.4%) at 1.15pm, 631k (3.6%) at 6pm and 393k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.34m (19.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
