'Coronation Street' Friday double tops 'EastEnders'

Coronation Street opened up a healthy lead over EastEnders on Friday evening (February 15).

The Weatherfield soap appealed to 8.7m (38.4%) at 7.30pm as well as 269,000 on ITV +1, before 8.38m (34.6%) returned at 8.30pm and 224k on timeshift.

EastEnders could only muster 7.26m (31.6%) for an episode centred around the Alfie-Kat-Roxy storyline, while BBC Three's 10.30pm repeat grabbed 489k (3%).

Comparing the audiences to this day last year, Corrie has remained solid but EastEnders has shed over a million viewers.

Elsewhere on Friday, Emmerdale took 6.8m (32.1%) at 7pm (+1: 133k), while Hollyoaks nabbed 821k (4.1%) at 6.30pm and 547k (2.6%) for E4's first look.

Neighbours logged 709k (9.5%) at 1.45pm and 945k (5.6%) at 5.30pm for its latest instalment. Home and Away fetched 689k (3.6%) at 6pm and 542k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look.

Doctors averaged 1.53m (20.7%) for a story titled 'Little Miss Letherbridge'.
