Soap ratings: 'Emmerdale': Alicia's apology takes 5.8m

Emmerdale was Wednesday evening's (May 30) most-watched soap as Alicia Gallagher's troubles continued, overnight figures show.

The ITV1 drama pulled in 5.81m (32.4%) at 7pm and 245k (1.2%) on +1 as Alicia's attempt to apologise to Val backfired.

Hollyoaks, meanwhile, attracted 832k (4.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 173k (0.9%) on timeshift as Mercedes continued to be haunted by terrifying memories of Silas. E4's first look then interested 546k (3.0%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 553k (9.2%) at 1.45pm and 880k (6.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 755k (4.7%) at 6pm and 565k (3.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Redemption' - was seen by 1.33m (22.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
