Coronation Street topped the soaps ratings on Friday, according to early overnight data.

Lesley's death was seen by 7.79m (38%) at 7.30pm, then 8.41m (35.7%) tuned in for the aftermath at 8.30pm (+1: 297k).

EastEnders logged 7.16m (32.9%) for BBC One at 8pm, adding 631k (3.2%) at 10pm for BBC Three's repeat. The show has rebounded following its clash with Britain's Got Talent's live semi-finals. The EastEnders Omnibus interested 369k (3.8%) at 12.05am.

Zak Dingle's moors rampage was seen by 6.34m (33.7%) at 7pm, while Hollyoaks took 733k (4.3%) at 6.30pm (+1: 105k) and E4's first look mustered 401k (2.1%).

Neighbours averaged 709k (10.2%) at 1.45pm and 822k (6%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while Home and Away drew 814k (6%) at 6pm and 428k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look.

Meanwhile, Doctors pulled in 1.48m (21.5%) for an episode titled 'Secrets of the Heart'.
