'Emmerdale' Ashley, Sandy abuse plot climax takes 7.3m

Emmerdale was above the 7m mark for both of its episodes on Thursday evening (April 19) as the Ashley and Sandy abuse storyline reached a dramatic climax, overnight figures show.

Emmerdale pulled in 7.13m (34.3%) at 7pm and 131k (0.6%) on +1 as Laurel caught Ashley hitting Sandy, while 7.33m (31.9%) watched at 8pm and 192k (0.8%) on timeshift as a horrified Laurel demanded an explanation from her husband.

Airing after Emmerdale, Coronation Street attracted 8.09m (33.4%) at 8.30pm and 217k (0.9%) on +1 as Terry made a dubious attempt to make peace with Tommy.

EastEnders, meanwhile, appealed to 8.06m (37.1%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as the Roxy and Alfie storyline came to a head. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 796k (4.0%) at 10pm.

Hollyoaks grabbed 888k (4.7%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the latest troubles for Phoebe, while 544k (2.6%) tuned in for E4's first look at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours interested 762k (10.1%) at 1.45pm and 1.03m (6.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 750k (4.3%) at 6pm and 489k (2.6%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Friend and Neighbour' - was seen by 1.63m (21.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
