'Coronation Street' tops Monday with Lesley storyline

Coronation Street remained the most-watched soap on Monday evening (April 2) as Paul Kershaw finally reached breaking point over his wife Lesley's dementia, overnight figures show.

Coronation Street pulled in 8.8m (39.8%) at 7.30pm as Paul went AWOL following more trouble with Lesley, while 8.87m (36.3%) watched at 8.30pm and 146k (0.6%) on +1 as the fireman took Lesley to visit a care home.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 8.01m (34.1%) at 8pm as Phil and Derek's feud was reignited. BBC Three's repeat screening had 750k (3.7%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.66m (32.7%) at 7pm with the launch of Aaron's exit week, while Hollyoaks secured 1.1m (5.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 422k (2.0%) for E4's first look at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 649k (8.6%) at 1.45pm and 1.02m (7.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 714k (4.1%) at 6pm and 507k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Full Time' - was seen by 1.31m (17.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
