Ratings: 'EastEnders' murder plot takes 9m on Thursday

EastEnders was the most-watched soap on Thursday evening (March 22) as the aftermath of Heather Trott's murder continued to keep fans gripped, overnight figures show.

EastEnders pulled in 9m (41.1%) at 7.30pm as innocent Andrew Cotton found himself in the frame for the dark crime. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 729k (3.8%) at 10pm.

BBC Three's behind-the-scenes show EastEnders Revealed: The Murder also performed well, interesting 501k (2.1%) at 8pm and 710k (5.5%) at 10.30pm.

Coronation Street, meanwhile, attracted 8.05m (33.4%) at 8.30pm and 256k (1.1%) on ITV1+1 with the fallout from Anne's showdown with Sally and Carla.

Emmerdale entertained 6.95m (34.2%) at 7pm and 122k (0.5%) on +1 as unstable Adam targeted Cain by committing arson at the garage, while the dramatic rescue scenes were witnessed by 7.35m (32.3%) at 8pm and 217k (0.9%) on timeshift.

Hollyoaks managed 1m (5.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Mercedes caused a scene at Bobby's christening, while E4's first look appealed to 527k (2.6%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 658k (11.3%) at 1.45pm and 1.03m (6.9%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 730k (4.2%) at 6pm and 423k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Puff' - was seen by 1.26m (21.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
