EastEnders stayed well above the 8m mark as the aftermath of Heather's death continued in a one-off Wednesday episode yesterday evening (March 21), overnight figures show.
EastEnders pulled in 8.56m (38.4%) at 7.30pm as Shirley was left devastated by Heather's demise. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 881k (4.5%) at 10pm.
Also on BBC One, Waterloo Road gripped 4.52m (19.1%) at 8pm with a heartbreaking episode for Grantly.
Emmerdale, meanwhile, attracted 6.71m (32.5%) at 7pm and 172k (0.7%) on +1 as Ed asked Aaron to move to France with him.
Hollyoaks managed 999k (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 134k (0.6%) on timeshift as Riley and Mitzeee caught the attention of a paparazzo, while E4's first look appealed to 572k (2.8%) at 7pm.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 738k (10.0%) at 1.45pm and 926k (6.1%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 682k (3.9%) at 6pm and 454k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Wanton Desire' - was seen by 1.31m (18.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
