Emmerdale topped the 8m mark on Monday evening as it launched a huge week for Cain Dingle, overnight figures show.
Emmerdale pulled in 8.09m (35.5%) at 7pm as ill-feeling towards Cain intensified in the village in the build-up to a brutal attack on him which airs later this week. A further 105k (0.4%) watched on timeshift.
Coronation Street pulled ahead of the other soaps by attracting 9.21m (38.5%) at 7.30pm for an episode which saw Carla and Frank's factory war continue. The second episode of the show's double bill had 8.55m (32.1%) at 8.30pm and 120k (0.5%) on +1.
EastEnders, meanwhile, entertained 8.62m (33.8%) at 8pm as Afia confronted her evil father Yusef. BBC Three's 10pm repeat screening took 783k (3.9%).
Elsewhere,
Hollyoaks managed 1.44m (6.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4, while E4's first look screening interested 491k (2.2%) at 7pm and 118k (0.5%) on timeshift.
Over on Channel 5,
Neighbours appealed to 775k (10.3%) at 1.45pm and 1.27m (7.4%) at 5.30pm, while
Home and Away mustered 955k (4.8%) at 6pm and 467k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of
Doctors - titled 'Trust' - took 1.88m (24.7%) at lunchtime.
