'EastEnders' nabs 8.3m with Eddie's scheming

EastEnders remained the most popular soap on Thursday evening as Eddie schemed against Michael, according to overnight viewing data.

EastEnders appealed to 8.36m (38.1%) on BBC One from 7.30pm, as Eddie plotted the downfall of his own son . A further 811k (4%) saw BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

Coronation Street averaged 7.27m (30.5%) for ITV1 from 9pm, as Tracy and Steve received some shocking news. An additional 245k (1%) watched the episode on ITV1+1.

Emmerdale grabbed 6.72m (33%) on ITV1 from 7pm and 140k (0.6%) on +1 for Cain's angry outburst. The rural soap pulled in 6.5m (29%) on ITV1 from 8pm and 248k (1%) on +1 as Charity got cold feet over the wedding.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks had 1.05m (5.4%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm. E4's first look at the next episode appealed to 437k (2.1%) from 7pm and 103k (0.5%) on +1.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.69m (24.1%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 613k (8.7%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 1.1m (7.3%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away appealed to 753k (4.3%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, and 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 448k (2.3%) from 6.30pm.
