The new series of Waterloo Road continued to perform on Wednesday evening, but ITV1's Emmerdale proved the most popular soap, according to the latest audience data.
Emmerdale averaged 6.07m (32.4%) from 7pm for ITV1 and 168k (0.8%) on timeshift, as Declan continued to show his ruthless side by circling the sinking farm like a shark.
Waterloo Road educated 4.35m (21%) on BBC One from 7.30pm, as Grantly wasn't pleased when a new head of English arrived at the school.
Elsewhere, Hollyoaks appealed to 930k (5.4%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm and 102k (0.5%) on +1, before E4's first look at the next episode mustered 354k (1.9%) from 7pm
Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.29m (23.7%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 652k (11.9%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 1.1m (8.5%) from 5.30pm.
Home And Away welcomed 717k (4.6%) to Channel 5 from 6pm, and 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 395k (2.3%) from 6.30pm.
