The worsening situation between Gary and Izzy helped Coronation Street easily retain the Monday evening ratings crown, according to overnight audience data.
ITV1's flagship soap averaged 8.19m (39.1%) from 7.30pm as Izzy was shocked as Gary's behaviour took a disturbing new twist. Gary's terrifying move to hold Izzy captive in her own home was watched by 8.63m (37.7%) from 8.30pm and 133k (0.6%) on timeshift.
EastEnders appealed to 7.96m (36%) on BBC One from 8pm, as Eddie's business dreams went up in smoke following a vengeful attack from Lola. A further 895k (4.5%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.
On Emmerdale, 6.57m (35.1%) tuned in on ITV1 from 7pm and 122k (0.6%) on +1, as Hazel was called to the witness box as Aaron's trial began.
Elsewhere, Hollyoaks managed 1.02m (5.8%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before E4's first look at the next episode pulled in 449k (2.4%).
Earlier, Doctors had 1.47m (19.6%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours entertained 749k (9.9%) on Channel 5. The Aussie soap's repeat screening fetched 1.23m (9.2%) from 5.30pm.
Home and Away took 881k (5.5%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode entertained 508k (2.9%) from 6.30pm.
