"The bakers and viewers will love her"
The Great British Bake Off star Prue Leith has broken her silence on her replacement for the celebrity edition.
Last year, the show judge revealed that she would no longer be part of the celebrity series, though will continue to co-judge the main show.
This week, Channel 4 confirmed that Caroline Waldegrave OBE would be her successor on the spin-off, and Prue has shared her delight on her Instagram Stories.
"Caroline is perfect!" she wrote. "The kindest and most knowledgeable teacher, the bakers and viewers will love her."
Prue and Caroline are longstanding friends, with the latter being the former co-owner and managing director of Leiths School of Food & Wine.
Paul Hollywood will continue to judge alongside the newcomer, while Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding are back as presenters.
Last year, Prue opened up about her reasons for stepping away, explaining on This Morning: "It's mainly because these things are filmed back to back.
"The whole way through the summer, so you start in April and you end at the end of August. Honestly, you get no time off. And, I'm getting a bit old and there's places I want to go."
Meanwhile, the line-up for Caroline's debut season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer has been unveiled.
Among the big names announced are presenters Kate Garraway and Roman Kemp, pop star Self Esteem, Chicken Shop Date's Amelia Dimoldenberg, comedians Adam Buxton, Phil Wang and Sophie Willan, and podcasters Chris and Rosie Ramsey, to name a few.
