Paul Daniels has admitted that he is not taking Strictly Come Dancing too seriously.

The TV magician claimed that he couldn't stop himself giggling after performing his cha cha cha and described his routine as a "party".

"All I know is that the cha cha is a fun dance and I was out there having a party," he told spinoff show It Takes Two.

"I just spend my laughing. I have a terrible confession to make. I saw the four judges and I just started to go. I just started laughing.

"We had fun and that was the most important thing for us. The judges take it very seriously and that's fine, that's their role."

Joking about his upcoming ballroom routine, he said: "I'm going in every day now to a place in Soho. They put you on the rack and soon I'll be tall enough to do the foxtrot."

Strictly airs on Saturday at 5.45pm on BBC One.
