The Great British Bake Off was back for Patisserie Week tonight (November 8), and tensions were high as we said goodbye to one more baker ahead of the finals.

After Maxy's exit last week, just four bakers were left, but tonight Janusz left the white tent forever, revealing who has made it through to the final: Syabira, Abdul and Sandro.

Competing for a place in next week's final, the four bakers began with the Signature challenge where they had to make six identical mini charlottes filled with flavoured mousse.

Paying tribute to his favourite childhood treat, Janusz made chocolate and plum-flavoured mini charlottes, while Syabira went for a peanut butter and berry cheesecake flavour.

Abdul's presentation wasn't "quite up to the patisserie week standard," according to judge Prue Leith, but his flavours were praised by Paul Hollywood.

For the Technical challenge, bakers had to bake four gravity-defying identical chocolate hazelnut and raspberry vertical tarts. Coming last was Sandro, Janusz was third, followed by Abdul's slightly over-baked tarts in second place, and Syabira's vertical tarts took the top spot.

In a nerve-racking Showstopper challenge, bakers were tasked with creating Krokan, a traditional nordic patisserie made from biscuits with marzipan and icing sugar decorations.

Making the enormous structures from biscuit, Syabira made a DNA helix, while Janusz's Krokan celebrated Brighton Pride, Abdul made a rocket, and Sandro celebrated his African heritage with a clock.

Star Baker this week went to Abdul, who bagged it for the first time ever, making it to the final with Syabira and Sandro, but, sadly, it was the end of the road for Janusz.

"I am not upset, the best three bakers are left clearly," said Janusz.

"This is just awesome to see, because it just shows I have been improving," an elated Abdul said of his win.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix. Bake Off: An Extra Slice, hosted by Tom Allen and Jo Brand, airs on Fridays at 8pm on Channel 4.
