Incredible skate-offs"

Dancing on Ice is nearing its end, as only five couples remain on the show after another celebrity was eliminated tonight.

The skaters performed routines inspired by judges and ice-dancing legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean in Torvill and Dean week.

Though all the couples managed to imitate the champions successfully, with three couples receiving the maximum score of 40, the public voted for Olympian Kye Whyte and Paralympian Stef Reid to compete against each other in the skate-off.

The judges were left to decide which pair would go home, choosing to keep Kye, sending Stef home eight weeks in.

Stef and her partner Andy performed a routine that Torvill and Dean first performed in 1982, which Christopher Dean said allowed them to "take it up a level and be creative," scoring them 36.5 from the judges.

They later performed to 'How am I Supposed to Live Without You' by Michael Bolton for their final performance.

Kye and his partner Tippy performed 'The Hop', which Jayne Torvill said was an exhibition piece that was designed to be a "high-energy crowd pleaser," scoring them 37 from the judges.

Kye and Tippy once again performed to 'Sanctify' by Years and Years for their skate-off performance, having narrowly escaped the chopping block last week.

The judges chose to save Kye and Tippy because all agreed that their final skate "had more content" and was "stronger" than Stef and Andy's.

Judge Ashley Banjo said: "Incredible skate-offs both of you, but [Kye and Tippy] were marginally stronger in the skate off."

Pussycat Dolls' Kimberly Wyatt achieved a series first, performing an upside-down inverted split, becoming the first celebrity to perform the move in the history of Dancing on Ice.

The final five celebrities will be competing with their professional ice-skating partners in the semi-finals.

However, the contestants were in for a bit of a shock when host Phillip Schofield revealed that next week would feature a double elimination, meaning two celebrities and their professional partners will be eliminated in one go.

Dancing on Ice airs on Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
