The competition already took a week off due to COVID and injuries

Dancing on Ice 2021 has been the most dramatic series yet. We've had contestants pull out due to positive COVID results, contestants injured and forced to leave, and professional skaters replaced too.

The show decided to skip last weekend's live show in order to let everyone get back on track, airing a compilation episode instead – and now the finale date has been changed.

But rather than push the show back, ITV has actually gone and brought it forward, meaning that the competition will now end a week early on Sunday, March 14.

"ITV have taken the decision to move the final of Dancing on Ice forward by one week," a spokesperson said. "The competition’s final will now take place on Sunday, March 14.

"Our production team and cast have delivered a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times.

"Continuing to make the best TV for our viewers is our top priority and we look forward to the rest of the series, on air from this Sunday at 6pm."

Meanwhile, former contestant turned judge John Barrowman was recently announced to be hosting a special revived edition of All-Star Musicals later on this year for ITV, featuring six new celebrities taking part.

Dancing on Ice airs Sunday nights on ITV.
