Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Countdown was watched by 4.9 million viewers on Christmas Day - many of whom were left commenting on one thing.

Viewers tuning into the festive edition of the BBC One reality TV favourite were all left discussing one particular detail in the Christmas Day episode.

The celebrity dancing programme featured a tribute to the late television presenter Caroline Flack, who previously won the Strictly trophy.

And viewers admitted there was not a dry eye in their houses after the incredibly poignant inclusion.

Caroline, who triumphed alongside professional partner Pasha Kovalev in 2015, featured twice in the top 10.

She was seen firstly for her stunning show dance to Robbie Williams' Angels in the final.

Her barnstorming Charleston to Istanbul (Not Constantinople) was also broadcast by the Beeb on December 25.

The episode was aired months after Caroline tragically took her own life, at the age of 40.

The TV presenter was found dead at a property in Stoke Newington, in London, before an inquest was held.

Her name trended on Twitter on Friday night as viewers flocked to hail Strictly over its touching gesture.

Many lamented Caroline's passing but all were willing to laud Strictly bosses for a touching and poignant tribute.

Some claimed it was "beautiful" and other viewers admitted they were left "sobbing" as a result of the episode.

"It was, of course, terribly sad to see Caroline Flack but important to remember her in this way," one wrote, before adding: "Her contemporary show dance with Pasha Kovalev was very lovely. "
