Donna Air and Anthony Cotton have been sent home from Dancing on Ice after losing out in the triple skate off to Max Evans.

The former rugby player and his partner Izquierdo were saved by the judges in a unanimous decision.

Coronation Street actor Cotton said he’d had “an absolute blast” taking part in the show, adding: “I can go forward and backwards, so I’m pleased with that.”

Meanwhile TV host Air commented that she had “absolutely fallen in love with skating”.

Sunday’s show saw the skaters grapple with the judges challenge, called the End to End step sequence, that they had to incorporate in their routine.

Each couple were required to skate from one side of the rink to the other without touching, all in perfect unison.

Jake Quickenden topped the leaderboard once more, with he and partner Vanessa Bauer scoring a 36 from the judges - the highest in the competition so far.

Notoriously harsh judge Jason Gardiner was particularly impressed, telling Quickenden: ”You entertain, you excite - but most importantly - you evolve."

Dancing on Ice continues Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
