Britain's Got Talent has become the most watched TV show of 2017 so far, with its second episode of the series pulling in 9.2 million viewers last night (April 22).

The show grabbed an impressive 44% share of viewers and also increased its audience from last week, when it was watched by 8.7 million (42% of viewers).

According to PA (via Yahoo! News), the audience peaked at 10.2 million viewers, meaning a lot of people were watching as Chinese dance acrobats Gao Lin and Liu Xin impressed the judges with a breathtaking routine and young performer Reuben Gray got the surprise of his life got the surprise of his life when his dad returned home from working away to watch his audition.

Last night's episode also saw judge Alesha Dixon press the golden buzzer for all-girl dance group Just Us, whose lead member will soon be undergoing surgery meaning that may leave her unable to dance again.

"I have so much admiration for you girls right now, seeing how you come together with this beautiful friendship," Alesha told the girls afterwards.

Britain's Got Talent has now taken the title of most-watched show of the year from an episode of BBC's Call The Midwife, which attracted 9.1 million earlier this year, including ITV+1 and ITV HD viewing figure.

Meanwhile, Doctor Who's second episode of its tenth series, 'Smile', attracted 4.3 million, giving BBC One a 23% share of the audience while it aired.

Although this was a dip compared to last week's 4.6 million viewers, the ratings were higher than for the second episode of the previous series, which won 3.7 million viewers.

Last year's Doctor Who clashed with the Rugby so of course it was higher this year! :clown:

In any case detailed viewing figures show that thousands switched over as soon as BGT began.
