Melvin Odoom has pulled off a Christmas miracle by winning the festive special of Strictly Come Dancing – despite being first out of the main series this year.
Melvin and his professional partner Janette Manrara might not have been part of the Class of 2016 for long but they were cheered on by this year's contestants as they performed an Elf-themed Charleston in tonight's Christmas movie extravaganza.
And what a dance it was, complete with Melvin sticking his head through Janette's leg for one of the most eye-opening lifts we've ever seen on Strictly Come Dancing.
The judges were bowled over too, with Len Goodman describing it as a "parcel of joy and fun", Darcey Bussell suggesting that the duo were "two cheeky edible elves", and Bruno Tonioli calling the dance "a festive pick-me-up that hit all the spots – a real cracker".
Even notorious grinch Craig Revel Horwood was feeling the Christmas spirit, announcing: "It was compact, perky, had enormous attack… I loved the characterisation; I adored that lift you did, that was brilliant. It was great to see your full potential darling - absolutely ah-ma-zing."
In fact, the judges loved the dance so much that they awarded it a perfect score of 40 – meaning Melvin had topped the leaderboard along with Frankie Bridge, whose gorgeous Frozen-themed American Smooth with Gorka Marquez had everyone swooning.
And when the audience's votes were taken into account, Melvin and Janette came out on top.
"This is the best Christmas ever!" Melvin squealed, vowing to put the trophy on his front door so that everyone knew he was a Strictly champion. We'd do the same, to be honest.
Tonight's Christmas Strictly also featured Ainsley Harriott, Pamela Stephenson, Denise Lewis and Gethin Jones returning to the ballroom for a wonderful night of movie-themed dances – including Pamela's Love Actually-inspired cha cha and Ainsley's Home Alone jive.
Matt Goss performed a special version of 'White Christmas' for the audience, while the show closed with a spectacular group dance to Kelly Clarkson's modern classic 'Underneath The Tree' – the final time Len will shimmy in the Strictly ballroom now that he's retired from the show.
