Great British Bake Off's botanical week leaves Rav Bansal going home
The Great British Bake Off had its first ever 'botanical week' tonight (September 28), and if you thought it was going to be a walk in the, err, greenhouse then you were wrong!
We had rivalries heat up as both Benjamina and Selasi and Jane and Candice ended up making similar things, and there were all the usual silly mistakes under the pressure of the ticking clock.
At the end of it all, it was student support worker Rav Bansal who was sent home, after failing to impress Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
Meanwhile, Tom Gilliford was named Star Baker with his rather interesting blend of chamomile tea and sponge cake. Tastes better than it sounds, apparently.
As for our eliminee Rav, he's just happy to have made it this far: "I was so proud to get past the halfway mark, my biggest fear was getting kicked out first, and I did feel like a cat that was running out of its lives. All the way through whenever I was doing badly, I somehow managed to pull it back. It was an up and down ride, but I went out with a smile on my face.
"It was honestly the best experience of my life, I loved every moment of being in the tent, yes there were some stressful times, but I couldn't be happier with my experience."
And now there are 6. The Great British Bake Off is hurtling towards the end of the series, and the last time we'll see Mary, Paul, Mel and Sue all together in the tent on the BBC.
The Great British Bake Off continues next Wednesday (October 5) on BBC One.
