Lord Alan Sugar has fired the first candidate on BBC One's Junior Apprentice.

Jordan De Courcy, 16, was axed by Sugar after the boys' team Ignite made a loss of over £200 in a cheese-selling task.

The girls, who were project managed by Hibah Ansary, won a meal cooked by Iron Chef star Tom Aikens, after banking over £100.

The boys' project manager De Courcy brought Tim Ankers and Rhys Rosser back to the boardroom and Sugar criticised all three teenagers for their efforts in the task. "They say cheese gives you nightmares... it's certainly working here, isn't it?" joked the millionaire.

Ankers was criticised for using the wind as an excuse for not working on more "credit crunch lunches", while Rosser was held responsible for the boys' poor choice of pitch.

However, Sugar laid the blame for the team's failure on De Courcy, concluding: "With regret, you're fired!"

Sugar later told the Dubliner that he could hold his head up high in making it to the final ten in the competition.

"When you get back to school and everyone asks you about this, let me tell you this, when they were scoffing their crisps and drinking their cola, you were here," he said. "Don't ever forget that."

Speaking in the back of Sugar's Rolls Royce afterwards, De Courcy said that he was confident he could be "more successful than Lord Sugar" in the next five years.

Junior Apprentice continues next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
