The Voice UK will be leaving the BBC after the next series, it has been confirmed.

With the broadcaster unwilling to enter a bidding war, Series 5 will be the final time The Voice airs on the BBC.

According to a BBC statement, the show has been "poached" by a rival broadcaster. Does this mean the swivelly chairs are moving to ITV?

"The BBC is incredibly proud of The Voice, but the fifth series which starts in January will be our last," reads a statement by BBC acting director Mark Linsey.

"We always said we wouldn't get into a bidding war or pay inflated prices to keep the show, and it's testament to how the BBC has built the programme up - and established it into a mainstay of the Saturday night schedule - that another broadcaster has poached it."

With ITV purchasing The Voice production company Talpa for £355m earlier this year, a move to the channel would certainly make sense.

The Voice UK returns to the BBC next January, with Boy George and Paloma Faith joining will.i.am and Ricky Wilson on the judging panel.

If it does go to ITV, maybe they'll bring back Tom Jones.
