Tila Tequila has been kicked out of Celebrity Big Brother less than 24 hours after the new series launched last night (August 27).
Channel 5 released a statement on Friday night confirming that producers removed Tequila from the house, upon learning that she'd posted controversial messages about Nazism on social media.
"Unfortunately, Channel 5 and Endemol did not know about the views and attitudes Tila had expressed in social media postings prior to her involvement in Celebrity Big Brother," a Channel 5 spokesperson said.
"When they were brought to our attention, she was called to the Diary Room for a discussion with producers and was subsequently removed from the house.
"The views Tila had expressed, and permitted to remain uncorrected, are totally unacceptable and, accordingly, her continued involvement in the programme was untenable."
Back in 2013, Tequila wrote a controversial essay for her website under the provocative title 'Why I Sympathize with Hitler: Part I'.
The US reality star argued at the time that her essay was not derived in anti-Semitism, and instead was a tribute to "a man who was not a coward, stood up for his country in a DESPERATE TIME OF NEED".
Tequila also shared a picture on social media of herself dressed in Nazi garb standing in front of the Auschwitz death camp.
Producers of Celebrity Big Brother apparently became aware of those postings after Tequila engaged in a discussion of Hitler with fellow housemates.
Celebrity Big Brother continues each night on Channel 5.
Err, that picture was circulated in 2013 and was the subject of much protest at the time so how come Channel 5's researchers knew nothing about it?
